Two thousand and fourteen years ago a grey bearded man, famed for his ability to tell a good story, sat surrounded by children who gazed up in wonder as he began a fresh tale:
My story does not occur in this dry and dusty land, but one accustomed to so much rain that people comment with delight when the soil under their feet is dry. Yet it is worse than that, for when it is at its wettest, it is also coldest and sometimes it is so cold that the rain turns to white powder they call 'snow'. This white powder can lay on the ground like sand and delights the children who can pick it up as a clump and throw it. These snow balls can hit their target but disintegrate on impact causing not the slightest damage. …

But enough of fun and frolics and the climate, you must also know that this is not of our era, but a time far in the future. In fact more than two thousand years from now, when buildings are massive and are not just places to live, but where people work or learn. They move to and from these buildings in wheeled carts that hum and emit smoke, but do not depend on man of beast to propel them. They carry single people who just direct them or they carry hundreds all going in the same direction.
